We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to collaborate with the DevOps/Infrastructure team of one of our long-standing clients. Your main responsibility will be leading the transition from Docker Swarm to Kubernetes. This “greenfield” opportunity allows you to shape the architecture and influence strategic decisions with your ideas and expertise, not just your code. The client is one of the leading investment/asset management companies in the US.
You will be working with Space Inch teammates as well as client team members on this project. Space Inch team members partner with our client’s team to comprise a large portion of five different combined teams.

- Our team is primarily based in Croatia (~50 people), with members in South America, Serbia, and the US.
- Occasional travel may be required, including annual company retreats in Croatia.

Requirements
- Expertise in:
- GitHub CI/CD, container registries, upstream/downstream systems
- Kubernetes – multiple environments, regions
- Azure – DevOps, Artifacts, Container Registry
- Terraform
- Linux
- Scripting/Programming in Python/Bash
- Docker, Docker Swarm
- ServiceNow automation (Okta, Azure, etc.) is a plus
- Full-time availability (40 hours/week)
- Normal working hours with occasional adjustments to enhance communication with the client which operates on eastern standard time (New York) – at least 3 hours of overlap expected.
- Integrate with the DevOps/Infra engineering team leading the Docker Swarm to Kubernetes transition
- Shape technical architecture through active participation in strategic discussions
- Ensure smooth mapping of Docker Swarm containers to Kubernetes
- Build strong relationships with other engineering teams to show value
- High-level insight into building robust Kubernetes pipelines
- Creativity in problem-solving and architecting complex migration solutions
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating internally and advocating changes for engineering teams using our infrastructure
- Ownership mentality – take charge of tasks with autonomy on implementation details
- Autonomy in deciding how to approach specific tasks
- Leading complex migrations requiring strategic thinking and deep system understanding
- Collaborating across teams, positively impacting their deployment pipelines
